CONSULTATION
DISEASE DIAGNOSIS

Once you book your appointment either online or by phone you will be scheduled for your first dental visit.

Here's what you can generally expect in the initial consultation:

Medical History:
You will likely be asked to give your personal information and medical history. Be prepared to provide details about your existing dental concerns, overall health, medications, habits and allergies if any.

Check up:

After asking some questions regarding your dental issues and going through your history, we will conduct a thorough examination of your oral cavity. This includes an assessment of your teeth, gums, tongue, and other oral tissues. We will check for signs of decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and other dental issues.

Investigations:

X-rays may be taken during your first visit. X-rays help the dentist identify issues not visible to the naked eye, such as cavities between teeth, impacted teeth, or bone loss. At SDC, we have digital xray facilities which makes the process very easy and quick. If required additional procedures like taking an impression etc may also be done.

Treatment planning:

We will discuss our findings based on the examination and X-rays. We will explain any issues detected, outline a treatment plan if necessary, and answer any questions you may have. This is an excellent time to discuss your oral health goals and any cosmetic concerns. If additional dental treatments, other than the primary dental concern, are needed, the same will be discussed with you. This could include fillings, extractions, orthodontic treatment, or other dental services which you may need but you may not be aware of.

Oral Health Education:

At SDC, we lay emphasis on preventive dental care. We will provide oral hygiene instructions tailored to your needs and demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques and offer advice on maintaining good oral health at home. Dental cleaning (Oral prophylaxis) may also be done to remove any plaque and tartar build up.

Insurance and Financial Discussion:

If you have dental insurance, the office staff will typically discuss coverage and payment options with you. Make sure to bring your insurance information to the appointment.

Follow-Up Appointments:

Depending on the findings, we may recommend and schedule follow-up appointments for specific treatments or for regular preventive care.

If you have any concerns or specific questions about your first dental visit, don't hesitate to communicate with the dental staff beforehand. Regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining good oral health and preventing potential dental issues.
